Free Intelligence — free as in not following the crowd, intelligence as in a person's capacity to understand the world. Together: understanding that is not boxed in by any single framework.

This is where I put things I have actually worked out. Most of it comes from things I have done, broken, and repaired — not frameworks read from books. It does not chase news. It updates when I have genuinely understood something, not when the calendar says so.

A gentleman is not a vessel

From the Analects of Confucius, Book II. A vessel is a thing made for one purpose — a bowl holds soup, a ruler measures length, and neither does anything else.君子不器 means refusing to be fully defined by one role, one method, one frame.

What follows the colon is my own reading: understand the world, then go change it. Understanding without building makes a commentator. Building without understanding makes a labourer. It only counts when the same person does both.

Decode. Hack. Repeat.

A method, not a slogan. Three moves forming a loop that does not stop:

• Decode — take the structure apart from every angle; understand how the thing actually works before touching it.
• Hack — find the opening nobody else noticed, and act on it.
• Repeat — building reveals a new structure, which sends you back to step one.

Three faces, one person

Decoder — An obsession with taking things apart from every angle — surrounding a problem the way you surround territory in Go, rather than charging it head-on.

Hacker — Finding the seam nobody else noticed. Reasonable, but nobody has done it this way.

Maker — Understanding ends in building. Working it out is not enough — the thing has to exist.

About this site

I built this site as a shelf you can move through. The home page is not a feed. It holds twelve books grouped under Self, Living Together, Systems of Making, and Relations with the World. You choose a question from a spine, open the book, and then enter the writing. Some books are still empty. I leave them on the shelf as a list of questions I have not worked out yet.

Once an article opens, the page goes quiet. Measure, leading, CJK–Latin spacing, and emphasis are tuned for long reading. There are no ads or trackers. Article pages ship no JavaScript; the 3D interaction returns only when you go back to the shelf. The shelf can carry the weight. Reading should feel light.
